ALEPPO – Syrian rebels shot down a regime warplane over western Syria on Saturday, military sources reported.

“Our fighters hit a warplane for the Syrian regime’s air force in Hama province,” a rebel spokesman for the Jaish al-Nasr told ARA News.

It was not immediately clear whether the warplane was shot down by anti-aircraft guns or a missile.

However, Jaish al-Nasr said in a statement it downed the jet with anti-aircraft guns.

Jaish al-Nasr and its allies called on Saudi Arabia and other backers to provide them with anti-aircraft missiles in order to confront Syrian and Russian warplanes, according to reports.
