Istanbul, Turkey – According to the Syrian opposition, the pro-Assad military forces committed “52 massacres” against civilians in separate locations across Syria last September.

The Syrian Revolution’s Coordination Union reported that the pro-regime army committed dozens of massacres across Syria last month, killing hundreds of civilians in different areas.

“Eleven massacres were committed by pro-Assad forces in Rif Dimashq province, the same in Aleppo and its countryside, as well as 8 massacres in Idlib province and 6 in Deir ez-Zor. Many were also committed in the countrysides of Deraa, Hasakah, Hama, Raqqa and Lattakia.”

The largest massacre, according to the Union, was committed in the city of Doma of Rif Dimashq (Damascus countryside), when air raids claimed lives of at least 61 civilians in one day. In the city  al-Bab in the Aleppo countryside, 55 civilians were killed in an air raid on the city’s bakery.

“September was one of the bloodiest months of 2014 so far,” the Union’s office reported.
