Al-Baghdadi’s top aide killed in Mosul

Zakho, Iraqi Kurdistan – On Thursday, the Iraqi Defence Ministry announced the death of the aide of the Islamic State’s (IS) leader.

The top aide of IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed in an air strike in the city of Mosul in northern Iraq on Thursday.

The U.S. forces and Iraqi army have been carrying out raids against headquarters of the Islamic State, following the militants’ control of large areas in northern and western Iraq.

Iraqi Defence Ministry announced earlier on Wednesday the death of another leading member of IS during an air strike in Iraq’s Mosul.

The United States is currently making effort to form an international coalition in order to launch larger military operations against militants of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS). France and the UK have shown willingness to join a coalition in the war against IS.
