Aleppo, Syria – At least 7 civilians were killed and several others were injured on Saturday due to aerial bombardment launched by pro-regime military helicopters on the village of Sheikh Najjar in the eastern countryside of Aleppo province, north of Syria.
Speaking to ARA News in Aleppo, civil rights activist Imad Hussein said that the pro-regime military helicopters dropped several explosive barrels on residential buildings in the village, killing seven civilians and wounding several others, who were transferred to a nearby field hospital.
Meanwhile, 5 civilians were reported dead on Saturday in a similar air strike in the Ard al-Hamra area of Aleppo.
Barrel bombs launched by Syrian warplanes also hit al-Haidariya and Masakin Hanano neighbourhoods in central Aleppo. No casualties were reported.
These developments, coupled with another aerial bombardment on the town of Banan al-gesso in the northern countryside of Aleppo province, caused damage in residential buildings, without recording casualties.
Aleppo province has experienced continuous bombardment with explosive barrels for more than a year now. Tens of thousands of civilians have been reported killed.
