Kobane, Syria – Militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) executed on Wednesday a young man in public in Serrin town (45 km south of the city Kobane/Ain al-Arab) in Aleppo province, north of Syria.

Abu Wisam, media activist based in Serrin, stated to ARA News that al-Qaeda splinter group of ISIL brought the young man, Mahmoud Sawas, to the Bazaar Square in Serrin, and executed him with three shots in the head in front of a crowd of people, on charges of spying for the al-Tawheed brigade of the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

“The victim was charged of attempting to murder one of ISIL militants,” Abu Wisam said.

Eye witnessestold ARA News that signs of torture were visible on Sawas’ “body because of frequent beatings by ISIL militants who are terrorizing residents in the area”, especially after rebels of the FSA advanced in al-Shuyukh front (near Serrin).

Meanwhile, ISIL-linked page on social networking sites (Tweeter) published photos of the victim being executed in front of crowds of people in the area.

Noteworthy, ISIL carried out death sentences on a number of people in the areas controlled by the group in Aleppo and Raqqa provinces. The charges ranged between “apostasy” and “spying on behalf of the FSA”.
